Mrs Burmingham's Class

A VERY WARM WELCOME TO THE RECEPTION CLASS!

In the Reception class we are very lucky because we have two teachers - Mrs. Burmingham (our class teacher) and Mrs. Beynon (our L.S.A.) both help us to learn.

Our classroom is lively and colourful, with our work displayed all around for everyone to enjoy. Every day is busy and full of exciting and fun things to do.

In the 'Foundation Stage' we learn mostly through our play. There are always lots of activities to choose from, such as: role-play, painting, collage, playdough, sand and water play, jigsaws, computer games, construction toys, books to read, story tapes to listen to, cooking.... The problem is which ones to choose!

In our 'Discovery Area' we can find out about shadows, colour and light, sound, how plants grow, minibeasts, what things are made of, how magnets work, floating and sinking and so much more!

We sing songs and rhymes (in both Welsh and English), enjoy music, read stories, dance and play games.

Of course, we learn to read, write and understand about numbers too.

Our learning can take place both indoors and outdoors. In our 'outdoor classroom' we can learn, play and explore in different environments and in all types of weather. There is so much to investigate in our gardens and conservation area throughout the year.

We are very lucky to have so many different opportunities to help us learn and grow together in the Reception class.
